Additive Introduction
Additives are chemicals added to the base polymer to improve processability, prolong the life span, and/or achieve the desired physical or chemical properties in the final product.

Our Best-Selling Additive Types
Silane Coupling Agent
Silane coupling agents can form a durable bond between organic and inorganic materials. The general formula for a silane coupling agent typically shows the two classes of functionality: hydrolyzable groups X and an organofunctional group R.
Silicone Oil
A silicone oil is any liquid polymerized siloxane with organic side chains. The most important member is polydimethylsiloxane. These polymers are of commercial interest because of their relatively high thermal stability and their lubricating properties.

Additives Characteristic
Improved Processing
Additives are combined with the polymer to improve the processability and processing characteristics of the material. Internal and external lubricants are very common processing additives that improve processing efficiency.
01
Decreased Material Costs
Fillers, or extenders as they are often called, are inexpensive additives that add bulk to the polymer and reduce costs by reducing the volume of base polymer consumed.
02
Extended Life Span
Additives, often referred to as anti-oxidants or stabilizers, are added to combat the deterioration of the plastic and to significantly extend the life span of the final product.
03
Reduced Flammability
There are different methods that are used by the additives to reduce flammability such as creating a foam layer for extra insulation, chemical reactions to inhibit combustion, and decomposition reactions that produce water.
04
Improved Flexibility
Plasticizers are a type of additive added to improve rheology as well as elasticity. Plasticizers fit in the spaces between polymer molecules reducing intermolecular forces, leaving the polymer less rigid and more easily handled during manufacturing.
05
For the surface treatment of glass fiber, it can improve the bonding properties of glass fiber and resin, and greatly improve the strength, electrical, water resistance, weather resistance and other properties of glass fiber reinforced composite materials. The improvement of the mechanical properties of composite materials is also very effective.
Used for filling plastics with inorganic fillers. The filler can be surface-treated in advance or directly added to the resin. It can improve the dispersion and adhesion of fillers in resins, improve process performance and improve the mechanical, electrical and weather resistance properties of filled plastics (including rubber).
Additive is used as a tackifier for sealants, adhesives and coatings, which can improve their bonding strength, water resistance, weather resistance and other properties. Additive can often solve the problem that some materials cannot be bonded for a long time.

Additive Precautions
According to the principle of chemical reactions, additive can only exert its coupling effect under hydrolysis conditions, but this does not mean that water must be added to the system. The water adsorbed and bound in the material and the water vapor in the air can usually meet the requirements for hydrolysis. Whether additive is pre hydrolyzed depends on specific conditions.
Hydrolyzed additive usually has poor stability and short shelf life, so it should be used now rather than stored for a long time. If the additive solution has obvious viscosity increase and gel like suspended precipitation, it means that most additive is invalid due to self polymerization, and this additive solution can no longer be used.
The solvent for additive is usually water, alcohol, or a mixture thereof, without deionized water, but never water containing fluoride ions.
The concentration of additive in aqueous solution should not be too high, usually below 5%, otherwise the self polymerization rate of additive hydrolysate will be significantly accelerated, which can easily cause solution stratification and affect use and storage.
Non amino additive generally needs to be hydrolyzed at pH 3-5, and weak acids such as formic acid and acetic acid are usually used to adjust the pH value. However, the hydrolysis of additive must be accompanied by sufficient stirring, which can last up to 12 hours.

The additive must be stored in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated environment while strictly preventing moisture and water ingress. The product should remain in its original sealed container at all times, with the storage temperature maintained between 5 and 40℃.
